Goosebumps: A Shivery Good Time at the Keyes Library

Celebrate R.L. Stine’s The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb and The Girl Who Cried Monster with two fun crafts at the Keyes Library on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. During this activity, children can make a scary mummy and a monster bookmark. While at the library, participants can take a trivia quiz based on the Goosebumps book series. All who complete a quiz will be entered into a drawing for two movie theater tickets to see the new Goosebumps movie.

Spooky T-shirt Craft at the Keyes Library

Bring a black or dark colored shirt to decorate at the Keyes Library on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. During these two craft sessions, participants will be able to create a seasonal design on their shirt. Ages 13 and up are welcome to participate in this activity. Children 12 and under must have direct parental supervision.

Launched in 2009, ​Reading Partners empowers students to succeed in reading and in life by engaging volunteers from the Sacramento community to provide one-on-one tutoring. With the help of almost 800 volunteers, Reading Partners provided individualized literacy tutoring to more than 480 elementary school students in 9 schools in low-income communities across Sacramento County in the 2014-15 school year. Using a highly effective, evidence-based program, Reading Partners has helped tens of thousands of children across the country master the fundamental reading skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
