Keep Your Home California Receives $383.3 Million in Funding to Help More Homeowners

SACRAMENTO – Keep Your Home California will receive an additional $383.3 million in funding from the federal government, allowing the mortgage-assistance program to help prevent foreclosure for more homeowners struggling with financial hardships.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the additional funding Wednesday, the second phase of additional funding approved for the Hardest Hit Fund program during the past two months.

The combined $383.3 million will allow the state-managed program to help at least 12,000 more homeowners. Qualifying homeowners can receive up to $100,000 in mortgage payment assistance from Keep Your Home California.

STEAM Programs at the Keyes Library

Join the Keyes Library for two STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) programs during the month of May. Each program is recommended for children ages 10-14.

First, join the library for Snap Circuits on Tuesday, May 10 at 3 p.m. During this program, children will learn about electricity and assemble electrical circuits to power a voice changer and other fun toys.

Children can then come to the library for Magnets and Electricity on Tuesday, May 17 at 3 p.m. During this program, participants will also build electric circuits to create an electromagnetic field.

These programs are supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian. For more information, please call the Keyes Library at 664-8006.

American Cancer Society to Paint Modesto Purple for Relay For Life Event April 4

The American Cancer Society is inviting the public to attend the RIBBON CUTTING on the corner of “J” Street and 10th by Mayor Ted Brandvold, on Monday April 4th at 10a.m..

The American Cancer Society is seeking businesses and organizations to get involved in the Relay For Life movement by displaying purple ribbons and other decorations from April 4th to May 2nd. Purple is the signature color of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life program, which represents all cancers People can also help “Paint the Town Purple” by doing other activities, including putting up purple-themed displays in storefronts, swapping out white light bulbs for purple ones, or selecting a day for everyone to wear purple at work or school.
