You might not be a cat, but you can create your own hat! During a celebration of Dr. Seuss on Wednesday, March 9 at 1 p.m., children can make a felt hat similar to the one featured in the famous story, The Cat in the Hat, by Dr. Seuss. Participants can also play One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by guessing the number of fish in a jar. The closest guess will win a Dr. Seuss tote bag filled with prizes.  In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, cake will also be served while supplies last.

Theodor Geisel, who wrote under the pen name Dr. Seuss, has played an important role in charming children everywhere into reading. Celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday is a way for libraries, schools, and parents to underscore the importance and joy of reading.

Modesto Con tickets sales went live online for $4, Saturday at noon. Excitement and anticipation for the event to already be here is palatable.

Modesto Con will be happening on July 9th and 10th at the Modesto Centre Plaza. This is the first two day Pop Culture Convention to happen in the Modesto Area.

Modesto Con also announced it's first celebrity guest, Doug Jones, best known for his rolls in the Hellboy series(Abe Sapien), Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer(Silver Surfer), Pans Labyrinth(Pan and the Pale Man), along with roles in DOOM, Batman Returns, Tank Girl, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Arrow and so much more. I personally am thrilled and delighted to see him come to Modesto. More guest will be announced soon.

What else can you expect at Modesto Con? Artists, a wide varity of vendors, cosplayers, the 501st Central Valley Garrison, the Batmobile and that is just the tip of the "Iceburg".

Featuring a Macy’s fashion show, healthy cooking demos, CPR trainings, giveaways and more

WHAT:  The American Heart Association in Sacramento will celebrate American Heart Month with its own Go Red fashion show at Arden Fair on Saturday, February 6. The fashion show will feature local adult and children heart disease survivors, cardiologists and volunteers. The event will also feature healthy cooking demos, free health screenings, CPR trainings and giveaways. Women, men and families of all ages are invited to attend the celebration and to help raise awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women by wearing red.       

WHO:  The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women is asking everyone to help America Go Red!

Lodi, Calif. – The Grape City Con, returns to the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds on Saturday, February 13, 2016. The one-day pop culture convention will run from 10am-4pm. The first Grape City Con, held this past February exceeded expectations with over 2,500 fans turning out for the event.

American Heart Association Seeks Heart-Healthy Woman For Go Red Total Makeover

44 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease and stroke and each of them have a story to tell. Join ABC10’s Dina Kupfer at The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement as she emcees the Go Red Total Makeover on Saturday, February 6 at Arden Fair from 10am to 2pm. The event will spotlight one local heart-healthy woman who is in the process of making herself over from the inside out.

Nominees should be a female resident within the community or surrounding area and have taken action to improve her heart health.  The heart-healthy makeover recipient will receive a $500 Macy’s gift card at the Go Red Total Makeover event, and additionally, will participate in local media and in-studio interviews.

Oakdale High School volunteer arrested, charged with child molestation


A volunteer aide for Oakdale High School is under arrest, charged with having sexual relations with a 16-year-old student.

Oakdale Police Department officials report the student was 15 years of age at the time of the incident related with the aide, identified as Anthony Perez, 23.

According to police, Perez was an aide with the school’s color guard, music and drama departments.

The parent of the student was notified of the incident by school administration after an investigation of rumors that were brought to their attention, police said.

Police report Perez has been interviewed by detectives.

After gathering corroborating details from the victim, Perez was placed under arrest and booked for child molestation and communicating with a minor and arranging to meet with a minor by use of the Internet for the purpose of sexual gratification.

Public Invited to Stanislaus County Music Festival

Community members are invited to attend the Stanislaus County Music Festival on Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Modesto Junior College Auditorium.  The festival kicks off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with the high school and junior high school Honor Choir.  At 2:00 p.m. on Saturday the high school and junior high school Honor Orchestra will perform, with the festival concluding Saturday evening with the high school and junior high school Honor Band performing at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge for admission.

Modesto-Con's Cosie Weekend at the Westside Theatre January 9th was a great sucess raising $1425.00 for the Haven's Women Center of Stanislaus Co.

Modesto-Con brought to the Westside Theatre in Newman, CA, the first ever Awards show of it's kind, the NorCal Cosies, along with a Mini Con(Cosie Con) during the day that had nearly 650 people in attendance over the 5 hours.

The NorCal Cosies Kicked off at 6pm sharp, with 10 categories with 3 finalist with a capactiy crowd who were the judges. The only trouble anyone had was in choosing who the winners would be.

Carrie Shea and Nick Silva kept the night flowing and the crowd entertaine, along with special dance performance by Spotlight Dance Company.

See you all July 9th and 10th at the Modesto Centre Plaza, for Modesto Con.

All you have to do is BE HUNGRY and GO OUT TO EAT at CHILIS's restaurant on Pacific Avenue. It's THAT EASY! Well, kinda! I will be posting a flyer that you will need to print and take with you. When you get to Chili's hand the flyer to the server and they will be sure that your tab counts as part of the fundraiser. 10% of the money made by all the people that bring in the flyer will be donated in Joshua's name via the fundraising organizazaion COTA. 100% of the money raised goes directly to Joshua and Breanna.
