Prepare to get HalloWILD at Micke Grove Zoo!

San Joaquin County, CA – From 10AM-3PM on Saturday, October 25 Micke Grove Zoo will be taken over by miniature ghosts, goblins, and Disney’s Frozen characters for its annual Halloween event, “HalloWILD.” Hosted by the Micke Grove Zoological Society, HalloWILD is a safe, family-friendly event including Halloween and animal themed games, crafts, trick-or-treat stations, and live animal presentations.

Highlights of HalloWILD include the chance to discover your inner “monster” at the Monster Match-Up, rocking out at the Ogre Orchestra musical area, digging for bones at the Extinct Animal Graveyard, playing a round of Bowling for Beasts, and other ghoulish games. Visitors can also take their chances by reaching into Mystery Boxes and discover what might be lurking inside. Additionally, mascots such as “Chipper” from the California Highway Patrol and “Rooty” from A&W Root Beer will be making appearances throughout the event. Animal presentations will be held at 11:30AM and 1:30PM at the Zoo’s Wild Things Theater.

“Halloween events at Micke Grove Zoo are always spectacular. The Zoo is transformed into a wild world full of wonderful creatures surrounded by hay bales and pumpkins.  There are fun games, crafts, activities and spooky yet safe surprises around every corner,” shared Kristy Benner, Special Programs Coordinator for the Micke Grove Zoological Society. “Each year creates a special memory for each guest as we celebrate the Halloween holiday with the zoo animals and staff. Everybody has a ‘spooktacular’ time.”

Children will be able to trick-or-treat at the many participating vendor booths, including The Rustic Puff with its custom flavored marshmallows, the California Milk Advisory Board, Boomers, Funworks, and family resource agencies like Parents by Choice and Stockton Unified School District Parent Empowerment Group. Chase Chevrolet will also have a “creatively costumed” vehicle on site with the Education Department’s “Zoo Mobile” which the dealership donated to the zoo in 2012.

The HalloWILD event is free for up to 3 costumed children (ages 3-13) per paying adult ($5.00 for ages 14+) and members of the Micke Grove Zoological Society and children ages 2 and under. Regular zoo admission applies from 3PM-5PM and all day for non-costumed children ages 3-13 ($3.00). A separate $6.00 parking fee applies for all visitors except members. Micke Grove Zoo is open every day of the year except for Christmas from 10AM-5PM with last entry allowed at 4:30PM. Please check the website, www.mgzoo.com, for additional details.
