TURLOCK - “Motownphilly’s back again” when Boyz II Men brings their R&B sound to the 2011 Stanislaus County Fair.

Best-selling R&B group of all time, Boyz II Men, will perform on Saturday, July 16, at the Stanislaus County Fair. The group will appear on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage at 8:30 p.m. The concert is hosted by KHOP 95.1 and is free with the price of fair admission.

“This truly is a great way to round out our opening weekend. We are very excited to have this 90s group, that many grew up listening to, come to our Fair,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “We are thrilled to offer such amazing talent to our guests for no more than the price of admission.”

Four-time Grammy-winning group, Boyz II Men, has found long standing success in the strength of their combined natural talents. First signed to Motown Records while still in high school, the group clearly had natural talent.

CSU Stanislaus production 'Debris' selected to perform at Kennedy Center Festival

TURLOCK - The California State University (CSU) Stanislaus Department of Theatre production of Dennis Kelly’s "Debris" has been selected to perform at the 2011 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). The prestigious honor is a first for the CSU Stanislaus College of the Arts-of 1,800 participating college and university theatre productions from across the country, only four were invited to perform at the April festival in Washington D.C.

"We are all extremely gratified and humbled at this opportunity to perform at the Kennedy Center," said Jere O’Donnell, CSU Stanislaus Debris production director. "The students have worked hard and the entire Department of Theatre has come together in order to make this production come together."

"I wish to extend congratulations to the students and faculty for this recognition of excellence in theatre arts," said CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani.

'America' set to perform at Stanislaus County Fair

TURLOCK - Whether you get there by plane, train, automobile or on “A Horse With No Name,” get to the Stanislaus County Fair to hear the classic-rock sounds of America.

The Grammy winning group, America, will perform on Sunday, July 17, at the Stanislaus County Fair. The group will appear on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage at 8:30 p.m. The concert is hosted by Sunny 102.3 and is free with the price of Fair admission.

“America has had long-standing success,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “The classic sounds of this group are sure to have fair-goers of all ages swaying in their seats.”

Art imitates history in the creation of America, the band that is, with both band and country having origins in England. The band’s founding members met in high school in London in the late 1960’s and quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts.

TURLOCK - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will bring their "Bad Reputation" to the stage at this year’s Stanislaus County Fair. The punk-rock group will perform on Friday, July 22 on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage at 8:30 p.m. The concert will be hosted by 104.1 THE HAWK and is free with the price of fair admission.

"Veteran punk-rock lovers won’t want to miss this amazing show," said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. "Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are sure to bring some great energy the Fair’s Budweiser Variety Free Stage."

As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, Jett has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You" and "Crimson and Clover." Jett was one of only two women named to Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest guitar players of all time.

TURLOCK - Country crooner Clint Black will be "Killin’ Time" this summer at the 2011 Stanislaus County Fair. The Grammy nominated singer-songwriter will perform on Friday, July 15, 2011, at the Stanislaus County Fair. He will appear on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage at 8:30 p.m. The concert is hosted by KAT COUNTRY 103.3 and is free with the price of Fair admission.

"Clint Black is an impressive country music classic," said Chris Borovansky, chief executive officer for the Stanislaus County Fair. "We anticipate that his fans will come from far and near to hear Clint’s pure and amazing voice live in concert."

Black has long been celebrated as one of country music’s brightest stars. Black is multi-talented as singer-songwriter, musician and actor.

Students compete in Nat'l Engineers Week regional finals

Students compete in Nat'l Engineers Week regional finals

TURLOCK - Middle school students from Northern California schools will compete in the National Engineers Week Future City Competition regional finals on Saturday, Jan. 22 from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. at CSU Stanislaus, One University Circle in Turlock.

Students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades have created future cities in large tabletop models as part of the non-profit educational program's competition. Students have worked with a teacher and volunteer engineer mentor since September to present and defend their cities to judges at the regional finals.

This year's theme is "Providing a Reliable and Effective Health Care Product or System that Improves a Sick, Injured, or Disabled Patient's Quality of Life and Comfort."A

The winning team will go to Washington, D.C. to compete against 34 other regions at Future City National Finals from Feb.
