Check out the back of the Modesto View each month and one look at the Calendar and know that there is always something to do in the Modesto Area. Art, Comedy, Music and more you can not truthfully say there is nothing to do in Modesto.

Youth Art Show at Stanislaus County Office of Education through April 4

As part of Youth Arts Month the Stanislaus County Office of Education, in partnership with the Stanislaus County Alliance for Arts Education, is hosting a Region 6 Student Art Show.  The public is invited to visit the Educationally Interpretive Exhibition, “Making Arts Learning Visible,” through April 4, 2014 (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) at the Stanislaus County Office of Education (1100 H Street, 2nd floor).  The Art Show features student work and teachings from preschool to high school students across Region 6.*

YES KIDETTES to Mark 8th Year with Disney’s “Aladdin, Kids!”

YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) KIDETTES will present Disney’s “Aladdin, Kids!” beginning at 7:00 p.m. on February 21, 2014 at Johansen High School Theatre, 641 Norseman Drive in Modesto.  Two additional matinee performances are scheduled for February 22nd and 23rd at 3:00 p.m. 

Tickets are $8 for children 2-12 years of age and seniors (age 55+), and $12 for teens and adults. Infants under 2 will not be admitted. Tickets are available at www.yescompany.org and at the Box Office one and a half hours (1.5) hours prior to each performance. Tickets will reflect assigned seating.

San Joaquin USA 2014 Brubeck Festival spans nation, jazz styles

Jarreau, Palmieri, Carrington head festival lineup; concert series, exhibit highlight coast-to-coast celebration of Dave Brubeck's life

University of the Pacific's Brubeck Institute has announced an impressive Grammy Award-winning lineup for its 13th annual Brubeck Festival celebrating the music and life of Dave Brubeck. Al Jarreau, Eddie Palmieri and Terri Lyne Carrington will headline 2014 Brubeck Festival: Coast to Coast, March 27-29, in Stockton.

2014 Brubeck Festival: Coast to Coast also makes the cross-country connection to the April 7-13 Brubeck tribute at Jazz at Lincoln Center. That New York City celebration will include a six-month exhibit, "Dave Brubeck: Jazz Ambassador," performances of new arrangements of Brubeck's music by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, performances by Brubeck's sons, and current and past Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet members.

YES Company Presents “Gift of Song”

YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) Company is gearing up for their fourth annual production of “Gift of Song,” a holiday music review and sing-a-long slated to open at the Gallo Center for the Arts in December.  A special project of the Stanislaus County Office of Education and the Education Foundation of Stanislaus County, tickets ($8-$15) are now on sale at the Gallo Center for the Arts Box Office and at www.galloarts.org.  Performances will be:
