Get Back to Work: Take Care of Yourself

Get Back to Work: Take Care of Yourself

In my upcoming book, Get Back to Work: Smart and Savvy Real-World Strategies to Make your Next Career Move, the first chapter – Take Care of Yourself – is one of the most important steps for anyone who is looking for work. In this kickoff chapter, I share some great tips on staying fit – physically, mentally and financially.

During my year and half of looking for work, there were days when I wouldn’t eat well and barely have the gusto to get up.  It was a short period of time where I was going through a grieving process – the loss of my previous job and undeniable sense of low self-esteem from being unemployed – which I did not understand at the time. I finally got through all the downs and started to change some habits to create a better future for me and my family.

Here is an excerpt from the book:

October 3rd is "Make It!" Day

How often do you hear someone say "Everything is manufactured overseas"? Participating in National Manufacturing Day helps to dispel this manufacturing misnomer and improve public perception of manufacturing in the US and San Joaquin USA. ATTENTION! Manufacturers - hosting a tour of your facility allows you to highlight the great products that you are producing right here in San Joaquin County. It creates awareness for your company within both the local and national business community as well as the local community at large.

Get Back to Work: Support Resources

In my upcoming book, Get Back to Work: Smart and Savvy Real-World Strategies to Make your Next Career Move, the second chapter – Support Resources – is a great place for helpful resources that can be utilized by job seekers when looking for work.

With so many untapped resources out there, chances are you’re not using many of these effective tactics available while looking for work. Why? Most likely because:

1.       People are not aware of the existing resources, or

2.       People looking for work don’t think that they need resources, or that the resources can’t help them or that the resources don’t fit their specific needs
