STEAM Week at the Modesto Library

STEAM Week at the Modesto Library

Join the Modesto Library for a week of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) programs from Monday, May 23 through Thursday, May 26. Each program is for children ages 10 – 14 and advanced registration is required. Programs include:

·  Engineering Space!………………………………..Monday, May 23 at 4 p.m.

During this program, children will learn about space exploration and will have the opportunity to build a model rover or space shuttle.

·  Build a Remote-Control Vehicle! ………………….Tuesday, May 24 at 4 p.m.

During this program, children will have the opportunity to build a mechanized vehicle using building bricks.

·  Snap Circuits! ………………………………………Wednesday, May 25 at 4 p.m.

During this program, children will learn about electricity and assemble electrical circuits to power a voice changer and other fun toys.

·  Magnets and Electricity! …………………………..Thursday, May 26 at 4 p.m.

STEAM Programs at the Keyes Library

Join the Keyes Library for two STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) programs during the month of May. Each program is recommended for children ages 10-14.

First, join the library for Snap Circuits on Tuesday, May 10 at 3 p.m. During this program, children will learn about electricity and assemble electrical circuits to power a voice changer and other fun toys.

Children can then come to the library for Magnets and Electricity on Tuesday, May 17 at 3 p.m. During this program, participants will also build electric circuits to create an electromagnetic field.

Dr. Seuss Birthday Party at the Keyes Library

You might not be a cat, but you can create your own hat! During a celebration of Dr. Seuss on Wednesday, March 9 at 1 p.m., children can make a felt hat similar to the one featured in the famous story, The Cat in the Hat, by Dr. Seuss. Participants can also play One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by guessing the number of fish in a jar. The closest guess will win a Dr. Seuss tote bag filled with prizes.  In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, cake will also be served while supplies last.

Theodor Geisel, who wrote under the pen name Dr. Seuss, has played an important role in charming children everywhere into reading. Celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday is a way for libraries, schools, and parents to underscore the importance and joy of reading.

GRAPE CITY CON

GRAPE CITY CON
Lodi, Calif. – The Grape City Con, returns to the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds on Saturday, February 13, 2016. The one-day pop culture convention will run from 10am-4pm. The first Grape City Con, held this past February exceeded expectations with over 2,500 fans turning out for the event.
