June Events at the Keyes Library

The community is invited to attend the Keyes Library for fun and free events open to the public throughout the month of June.

All ages, including adults, can participate in the library’s Summer Reading Program from Tuesday, May 27 through Thursday, July 31. The Keyes Library has gift baskets and prizes for all age levels that individuals can win just by reading.

All ages can also celebrate the start of summer reading with a Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Monday, June 2 at 1 p.m. Come by the Keyes Library for ice cream and listen to music performed by local ukulele band, The Funstrummers.

Teens and adults can also bring a t-shirt, hat, or bag to tie dye at the library on Wednesday, June 4 at 1 p.m. The library will supply all dyes and equipment. Children are also welcome to participate with direct adult supervision.

Children will have the opportunity to make their own silly putty at the library on Wednesday, June 11 at 1 p.m.

Check out the back of the Modesto View each month and one look at the Calendar and know that there is always something to do in the Modesto Area. Art, Comedy, Music and more you can not truthfully say there is nothing to do in Modesto. 

Superhero Day at the Keyes Library

Superhero Day at the Keyes Library

Quick Robin! To the Library! Comic books, graphic novels, and superhero stories have long interested children and adults alike. Celebrate these wonderful works with Superhero Day at the Keyes Library on Thursday, May 1 at 3 p.m. Children can make a superhero mask, participate in a superhero scavenger hunt, and choose a superhero name. Be sure to bring your cameras because Batman will be making a special appearance! Children can pose as their own superhero and take pictures with the Dark Knight himself! Participants can also come dressed as their favorite superhero; however, costumes are not required. Cake, snacks, and light refreshments will also be available while supplies last.

All events are free and open to the public! This event is sponsored by donations to the Friends of the Keyes Library. The Keyes Library is located on 4420 Maud Ave. For more information, please call 664-8006.

Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros at the Keyes Library

Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros at the Keyes Library

Community members are invited to participate in Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros on Thursday, April 10 at 3 p.m. Children can celebrate this wonderful multicultural event by making several fun crafts including fortune cookies, butterflies, and maracas. A bilingual story time will also be held at 3 p.m.  Churros, snacks and light refreshments will be served while supplies last.

April Events at the Keyes Library

April Events at the Keyes Library

     The community is invited to attend the Keyes Library for fun and free events open to the public throughout the month of April .
     Children can participate in the Be a Super Reader! Reading Bingo Game from April 1 through May 1. Participants can follow the directions in each square and upon completion of a column receive a prize. All children who reach blackout will be entered into a drawing to win a Batman backpack filled with superhero goodies. The winner will be announced during Superhero Day on Thursday, May 1 at 3 p.m.  
     Adults can also come by the Keyes Library and pick up the recipes of the month between April 1 and April 30.
     Children can learn about recycling on Wednesday, April 2 at 9 and 10 a.m. Denise London from the Stanislaus County Environmental Resources Agency will conduct two special Story Times that teach children the importance of recycling.
