Saving national parks, one rideshare at a time

Share a Ride, Tell a Story, Save a Park This motto perfectly encapsulates the unusual endeavors of GreenXC, an ensemble of green-minded young professionals. [All right, National Parks as a whole is a little outside my usual realm of Northern California, but we have several National Parks in NorCal AND GreenXC is on their way to visit some of them!

Turlock PD plans Memorial Day DUI crackdown

TURLOCK - The Avoid the 12 DUI Campaign will be deploying officers this holiday weekend at DUI/Drivers License Checkpoints and DUI Saturation Patrols countywide to arrest impaired drivers who still don’t get the message.

The Memorial Day weekend is witness to the kick off of summertime recreation and holiday travel, along with many college and high school graduations seeing thousands celebrate their accomplishments. The next 100 days will also see a rise in deaths and injuries as far too many individuals get behind the wheel impaired.

The enforcement campaign begins Friday night with a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint in the city of Ceres with special DUI Saturation Patrols deploying countywide. A DUI checkpoint will also be conducted on Saturday in Turlock and on Sunday in Modesto. Local DUI Saturation Patrols will be out on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Turlock police, CHP plan extra DUI patrols for Cinco de Mayo

TURLOCK - Cinco de Mayo is a special opportunity to gather with friends and co-workers for chips, salsa and Margaritas, celebrating California’s rich cultural diversity. It is also a night when dangerous and often deadly outcomes occur because another impaired driver hits the road drunk.

Stanislaus County’s "AVOID the 12 DUI Task Force" will be deploying additional patrols onto city streets while California Highway Patrol will be saturating the freeways and unincorporated communities. They will be looking for the signs of a drunk driver.
