Join the Keyes Library during the month of January for several family-friendly events for individuals of all ages!

Tweens and teens ages 12 through 18 can ring in the New Year with a special library celebration on Thursday, January 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participants can make unique buttons and pins for their bags and backpacks, as well as, play popular Wii games. This is a fun event where teens and tweens can interact with their peers and enjoy a safe activity during their winter break.

Aspiring chefs can participate in the What’s Cooking?: Recipe Exchange from Jan. 2 through Jan. 30. Participants can come by the library for winter cooking ideas and pick up the recipes of the month! While at the library turn in your favorite recipe to be entered into the contest for the recipe of the month in February! Two recipes will be chosen for February’s Recipes of the Month.

 Adults can pick up the Recipe of the Month, during a Cupcake Decorating Class on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 10:30 a.m. During this exciting and hands-on class, adults will learn to make fun and simple cupcake decorations. This program is intended for adults; however, children are welcome to participate with direct adult supervision. One adult per child is requested.

Children will enjoy the Mr. Popper’s Penguin Craft on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 3 p.m. During this hands-on program, children will learn various penguin facts, as well as, make a cute penguin using styrofoam! Penguin books will also be displayed, including the story “Mr. Popper's Penguins” by Richard and Florence Atwater.
