Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros at the Keyes Library

Community members are invited to participate in Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros on Thursday, April 10 at 3 p.m. Children can celebrate this wonderful multicultural event by making several fun crafts including fortune cookies, butterflies, and maracas. A bilingual story time will also be held at 3 p.m.  Churros, snacks and light refreshments will be served while supplies last. 

This event is sponsored by donations to the Friends of the Keyes Library. The Keyes Library is located on 4420 Maud Ave., Keyes, CA.  For more information, please call 209-664-8006.

April Events at the Keyes Library

     The community is invited to attend the Keyes Library for fun and free events open to the public throughout the month of April .
     Children can participate in the Be a Super Reader! Reading Bingo Game from April 1 through May 1. Participants can follow the directions in each square and upon completion of a column receive a prize. All children who reach blackout will be entered into a drawing to win a Batman backpack filled with superhero goodies. The winner will be announced during Superhero Day on Thursday, May 1 at 3 p.m.  
     Adults can also come by the Keyes Library and pick up the recipes of the month between April 1 and April 30.
     Children can learn about recycling on Wednesday, April 2 at 9 and 10 a.m. Denise London from the Stanislaus County Environmental Resources Agency will conduct two special Story Times that teach children the importance of recycling.

A Seussical Celebration at the Keyes Library

Keyes Library invites story-lovers of all ages to revel in reading and rhyme with a Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration on Wednesday, March 5 at 1 p.m. Come see the library transformed into a Truffula forest and make a “Cat in the Hat” mask. Children can also play “Find the Hat” to receive a prize.  Birthday cake, light refreshments, and prize drawings will also be available throughout the afternoon.

Theodor Geisel, who wrote under the pen name Dr. Seuss, has played an important role in charming children everywhere into reading. Celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday is a way for libraries, schools, and parents to underscore the importance and joy of reading.

This program is free and open to the community with support from donations, large and small, to the Friends of the Keyes Library. The Keyes Library is located on 4420 Maud Ave. For more information, please call 664-8006.

YES KIDETTES to Mark 8th Year with Disney’s “Aladdin, Kids!”

YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) KIDETTES will present Disney’s “Aladdin, Kids!” beginning at 7:00 p.m. on February 21, 2014 at Johansen High School Theatre, 641 Norseman Drive in Modesto.  Two additional matinee performances are scheduled for February 22nd and 23rd at 3:00 p.m. 

Tickets are $8 for children 2-12 years of age and seniors (age 55+), and $12 for teens and adults. Infants under 2 will not be admitted. Tickets are available at www.yescompany.org and at the Box Office one and a half hours (1.5) hours prior to each performance. Tickets will reflect assigned seating.

Thanks to a grant from the Office of the President, Delta College's Student Activities office has arranged for Christy Wright from the Dave Ramsey Speakers Bureau to provide a FREE one-hour personal finance session: Back to Basics: Ditch Debt, Build a Budget, and Show Your Money Who’s the Boss! Join the Keyes Library during the month of February for several family-friendly events for individuals of all ages!

All ages are invited to participate in the Chinese New Year Trivia Game from Feb. 3 through Feb. 6! Participants that complete this short quiz will receive a fortune cookie and learn interesting facts about the Year of the Horse.

 Adults can participate in the What’s Cooking?: Recipe Exchange from Feb. 3 through Feb. 27. Participants can come by the library for cooking ideas and pick up the recipes of the month! While at the library, turn in your favorite recipe to be displayed during the month of March.

All ages are also welcome to participate in the Love Bites Valentine’s Candy Count from Feb. 3 through Feb 27.  Participants can guess the number of candies in the jar. The closest guess will win the entire jar of candy.
