Turlock man, 21, arrested for 2010 drive-by shooting

TURLOCK - Police arrested 21-year-old Omar Davila, of Turlock, Wednesday afternoon in connection to an attempted murder case. Davila had a $3 million arrest warrant for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and additional gang and weapons charges related to a shooting incident on August 28, 2010 in Turlock.

In that incident, Davila and 20-year-old Julio Mancillas, of Turlock, allegedly drove by a group of people standing in a carport in the 1200 block of Lambert and began shooting into the crowd, according to Turlock Police Lt. Ron Reid. One person was hit in the abdomen but survived his injuries. Mancillas was later arrested but Davila, identified as the shooter, remained at large.

Turlock police investigators received information Wednesday about where Davila was hiding out and avoiding authorities. He was arrested without incident at a residence in the 300 block of Bothun Road just before 4 p.m., said Reid. Officers searched the home and found a stolen vehicle in the garage, an assault rifle, a handgun, cocaine, evidence of drug sales and gang paraphernalia.

Davila was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for his arrest warrant.
